Common Conditions

Depression/Anxiety

As a naturopathic doctor, my goal is to identify the reasons for the patient's anxiety attacks and then develop a treatment plan to deal with those causes (i.e., physical/chemical imbalances, environmental). For example, one of the common symptoms of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is anxiety. Treating anxiety may involve nutritional counselling to ensure stable blood sugar levels.

In many cases, anxiety can be treated by using herbs and other natural substances that bring the body back into balance and restore its natural functions.

Digestive Issues

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a term used often to describe a "nervous digestion" or "spastic colon". Many digestive disorders can mimic IBS so it is important to have a complete evaluation by your Naturopathic Doctor to rule out disorders such as lactose intolerance, diverticulosis, inflammatory bowel disease and cancers.

When treating digestive disturbances, I will help you to understand what agents or foods are aggravating your digestive system and help educate you about removing or replacing those foods in your diet. By eliminating these irritants, followed by treatments that repair the digestive system, significant improvement in symptoms can be achieved.

Allergies

From a naturopathic viewpoint, allergies are often associated with adrenal dysfunction, immune imbalance, and impaired digestive functions due to food sensitivities. Natural treatments such as herbal medicines and vitamins are used to support and improve those functions and to alleviate hay fever symptoms.

Weight Management

Successful weight control is more than just weight loss.

The weight management program available at Ajax Chiropractic & Wellness is designed to determine the underling cause(s) of your weight gain. Whether the reason of your weight gain is due to an underlying medical condition or related to emotional issues such as anger or depression which may lead you to have unhealthy eating habits, this program is for YOU! Regardless of the cause, the program is designed to educate and develop lifetime habits that allow you to maintain a healthy weight.

Low Energy

Generally most people experience low energy from time to time. Low energy raises some concern if it is a prolonged issue.

Fatigue may be the result of one or more environmental causes such as inadequate rest, improper diet, work /home stressors, poor physical conditioning, or one symptom of a chronic disease process in the body.

A thorough examination and patient history by a qualified healthcare provider such as a naturopathic doctor is the first step in determining the cause of the fatigue. Treating fatigue can range from lifestyle interventions such as stress management, nutritional recommendations to rule or treat nutrient deficiencies and herbal remedies to support the main glands (adrenal) responsible for stress response.

Detoxification

Today our bodies are constantly filtering unwanted/unhealthy substances at sometimes too rapid of a rate. Detoxification through special cleansing diets and/or supplementation is the best way to assist your body's natural self-cleaning system.
